Here is a URL provided by Dave Kekich to me regarding about
a talk given by Matthew Simmons, regarding the potential for
a near term peaking of oil production. Also discussed in
the article and on the site's home page are limits in gas
    reserves.

Now what is interesting about this is that if Simmons is
correct the world may hit the energy supply wall hard in
the not-so-distant future. If so that may significantly
delay the singularity ramp-up (significantly higher energy
prices mean less funding available for govt. grants, private
    investors, etc.).

Knowledge of this may also explain why the U.S. has a
significant program, funded by the DOE, to make use
of coal as an energy resource in spite of the fact that
it is such a dirty energy source.
