What legal protection do American citizens have against government or legal
officials that either disregard the law or act like Tyrants? If a government
official is elected to office, what is the procedure, if any. that the public
can follow to remove them from their position before the end of their elected
    term?

The worrying thing is that on casual observation. If a complete loon is
elected, you cant get rid of them until they step way-way over the line. As
    in Nixon.
