           Originally Dwight Eisenhower pushed through the freeway system here in
    the States. He justified the system on the basis of national defense. Given
    the size of our country it was thought vital to have the freeway system to
    facilitate the quick movement troops, equipment and supplies from one area of
    our country to another.
           Folks forget that before he was a famous general Eisenhower was an
    armor officer. In addition shortly after the First World War then Captain or
    Major Eisenhower was the first to move a military unit from our East Coast to
    our West Coast. This was done as a test of feasibility.
