I don't think that it is the fact that Eli is young so much as the
fact that he makes too many generalizations and assumptions. He thinks that
*he* is correct where all of us "Extropians" err. A little bit hypocritical
considering that he is on the "Extropian Mailing List". I strongly suggest
to any newcomers that you should *read the archives* and lurk for awhile
before you post. Get used to the personalities on this list before you go
off prattling about what *is* and what *isn't*. Some list members tend to
forget that the extropian list is a forum for extropian discussion. There
are no 'heavyweights' so to speak, just posters with different views.
Extropy is a philosophy that deals with *many* aspects of art, life, science
and (of course) vice versa. We should have no need for a bloody poll to
tell us that we are extropians ("Yes sir, I am an extropian because I got an
I-D-I-O-T on the 'Eli' poll"). We are, for the most part, extropians, and
we need no-one to appropriate and catagorize and assume that we are as we
are. We do enough of that in our heads. This has almost turned into a plea
on my behalf...a plea to get over our shortcomings and put tradition and
authority behind us; in the end, we will be better off for it, and all of
you know it.
