That theory was popular until about 1970, but very few believe it anymore.
I doubt if brontosaurs spent more time in water than you or I do. The more
extreme form of the theory, with them walking on a lake bottom with only
their head above the surface is certainly wrong, the pressure on their lungs
would be so much greater than the pressure at their head that it would be
impossible to breath. Whales don't have long necks so they don't have that
problem.
