Well, in an Omega Point you don't need every photon, just enough energy.
Tipler has never claimed the reconstruction of past history requires any
information about it! His solution (and probably the only really
workable one) is to reconstruct all possible pasts, the "real" one is
hidden in the middle of them and you will have restored a huge number of
"what if" worlds.
