If one places a hot "inverted Dyson sphere" around the event horizon
at temperature T around a black hole of mass M, the total amount of
blackbody radiation one can send is 16 pi G^2 T^4 M^2/ c^4. So the
efficiency of dumping waste heat into the hole goes up with the mass
and temperature. This twists the design of inverted M-brains half a
turn further: the black hole cooling unit itself is going to be a
hot object, which cools surrounding cool computronium. Hmm, this way
the M-brain is going to look more like a dense ball surrounding the
black hole core, in turn surrounded with some cooling versus the
surrounding cosmic heat bath and outside that some energy producing
systems (black hole total conversion mini-dysons?) with "classical"
M-brain like systems that collect the energy and power the main
system.
