What if you were an extropian but not a materialist?

Consider Hegel's self-realization of the Absolute Notion as a the final
perfection of personhood in its infinite form.

That is to say, if there's anything to like about extropian(ism) is
that, inasmuch as it is philosophy, it is a pragmatism, not a
materialism. This whirling around the philosophical wheel doesn't get
you anything but poor philosophy and eternity-less life. The idea of
an institute should be more likened to Salk's Institute or The City of
Hope instead of some kind of odd cultish need to attach oneself to this
or that old-saw of philosophy which tends to be more about alienation
    than forward-thinking anyway.

    Best,

    R
