For the record, I thought that Damien's reaction was a healthy way to
let show just how contrary to his valuations Robert's proposal was.
It may be useful to repeat that valuations need a valuator, and that,
while aiming for the elimination of subjective biases in the domain of
knowledge is productive, it's not in the domain of valuations, where
it would only lead to the elimination of valuations themselves.
Hence, rationalizing valuations is delusive ("hyper-rational
fairyland").
In this domain, arguing may at times be useful, but it is at the same
time essentially unappropriate. Vocal reactions are part of the
appropriate ways of letting know where one stands, and of trying to
influence and inspire each other, sending wake-up calls to a more
ambitious behaviour. It's not guaranteed, but it sort of works
because, being all human, we share similar valuations, and so it is
often just a matter of refreshing things to each other, rather than
really reforming each other.
