I'm noticing what I consider to be a rather huge surge in
accesses to my Matrioshka Brain paper. Perhaps an increase
to over 1000 accesses per month (up from 200-300 most months
from a historic perspective). [Including interestingly
several accesses from major IBM research labs...]
Perhaps this may be a /. secondary effect from Nick
Bostrom's citations on /. (related to the Matrix and
whether or not we are in a simulation) that directly
or indirectly reference this paper. [The way to test
perhaps is whether Anders' paper on related topics
(http://www.jetpress.org/volume5/Brains2.pdf)
has seen a similar spike in interest.]
But I'm asking the list to see if anyone knows of
any other direct or indirect mentions of Matrioshka
Brains that might explain the unexpected interest?
Related to this does anyone know of a relatively good
package (preferably open source) that can use to track
interest in particular URLs from a web server?
(So one can see when a topic becomes "hot".)
Thanks,
Robert
