always books and libraries before the Net. All of us on this list grew in
libraries to a great extent, no doubt. The effect on the hoi polloi is what may
cause great change.
I attend a review course for an IRS tax license exam this summer.
Last Thursday a very high level Tax consultant came in to teach the class. He
had a few minutes to devote to some career advice for us. In that few moments
he gave us up to the minute advice that usually can't even be in books.
A metallury professor explained to his class once that usually by the
time something is discovered, gets systemitized, goes through a decision
process to be made public, is written and published as a book is usually a matter
of about five years.
So, while I do believe in libraries and books, having bright people
around to talk to is a vast source of information also.
