Agreed. Democracy is, at best, a means to an end. To many people in
our society see it as an end in itself.
I also think there are reasons to be skeptical of democracy's long term
support of freedom and openness. See Hoppe's _Democracy -- the God that
Failed_ for a politico-economic argument for why this might be the case.
