Why not take this all the way? One could argue that ash
bows and flint arrows are modern technology (even if not
a particularly advanced example) since they were cutting
edge to some human groups only a couple hundred years ago.
I would suppose that the first use of weapons in humans
was stones, hurled like a pitched baseball. Perhaps this
even predated chasing carnivores from their kill using
a burning branch.
Now that would be an interesting contest: see who can bag
a rabbit or a squirrel using only hurled stones. spike
