Only because manufacturers treat PCs as appliances rather than
furniture. Good mechanical clocks are built to last for decades or
centuries. PC's have no such potential life.
I have, however, pondered ideas of producing PC cases from hardwood,
burl, etc with brass fittings and such that it could reclaim proudly
its position atop a desk, rather than hidden below it... Anybody
interest in one?
