Well personally I believe I only need to survive another ~40 years (in
the absolute worst case) before technology will make these issues moot.
Currently I'm almost 29. So I am not so interested in diets to extend my
max lifespan... what I AM very interested in is minimizing my chances of
getting cancer, a heart attack, or any currently untreatable diseases
while simultaneously eating in such a way as to maximize my mental
alertness/well being and physical fitness. So I am likely to choose
whatever diet I decide has the best historical and scientific evidence
behind it to accomplish those goals.
