    Southerners today have pretty much forgotten the War of Northern
    Agression, too. Even though there are still plenty of old folks
    who will turn pale at the mention of the name "Sherman", the
    majority of the population is younger and pretty much accepts that
    ending slavery was a reasonable justification, and they generally
    all consider themselves part of "The United States" now.

    After all, there are more important things to fight now, like
    those Godless evolutionists trying to pollute the minds of our
    schoolchildren. :-)
