Though I haven't read the articles Reason points out --
it would be very interesting to look at the synthesis
pathway(s) for glutathione -- there may be some molecules
that one could provide to still allow the optimal synthesis
of glutathione but not repress the up-regulation of
protein recycling that methionine restriction may cause.
Notes:
- I don't know if methionine is required for glutathione synthesis.
- I don't know if glutathione can be absorbed and distributed directly
from food intake.
- It may be that N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) could be the required amino acid
for glutathione synthesis.
- I don't think we know if NAC restriction on top of methionine restriction
produces additive effects in terms of up-regulating protein turnover.
