That's interesting to know. I was in Cancun earlier this month but didn't
see any animal brains on the menu. But then the Cancun Hotel Zone is hardly
true Mexico. It's more like Las Vegas on the beach without the casinos.
Incidentally there were typos in my message about the nutrients in lamb and
pork brains. The portions measured were 100 grams, not 100 milligrams.
I don't know how much a typical animal brain weighs, but I did some quick
figuring and calculated that a little more than a pound of animal brain
provides roughly the FDA recommended daily allowance of vitamin C. Assuming
a typical animal brain weighs roughly a pound or two, a brain a day is all
our paleolithic ancestors needed to prevent scurvy. This of course gives new
meaning to the phrase "eating smart."
