Somewhere I have seen research that agrees with your viewpoint. I
have a fading memory that says women gather something like 2/3rds to 3/4ths
of all the calories consumed by primitive people. The hunter accounts for
the rest.
The hunter serves a double function according to what I read in
Desmond Morris. He hunts for food but he also in there to intercept any
predator before it gets into the village area.
