I've been wondering lately whether Germany isn't an anonymous member
of the willing. While the German government has rejected participation
in the war, it does appear quite supportive of it, allowing the US
to make full use of the important Ramstein airbase and even detailing
German soldiers for guard duty there and at other US installations
in the country. And there remains the question of what those AWACS
crews in Turkey are really doing.
Sure looks like a supposed opponent of the war is contributing more
in the way of support than many of the supposed supporters (are
able to). Realpolitik, I guess.
