Yes. I can just hear Jimmy Carter sitting down with Sadat
and Begin and saying, "Listen heah, yall. There's no need
here for fightin'. There is something much, much more
PROFITABLE for all three of us'uns. You each get four
billion dollars or so a year, and I get to go down in
history as the great peace-maker, why, I might even
get a Nobel peace prize or two!

"This is a sure-fire thing. The three of us come out smelling
like roses, and the only loser is the American tax-payer, who
is a stupid chump anyway, and who deserves what he gets,"
    hearty laughter all around.

Isn't that about the size of it? Ol' Jimmy Carter just got
us to *pay* them not to fight each other. Great for him,
and great for them. Stupid for us.

But then, like he says, we're chumps anyway and so deserve it.

    Lee
