I've been in the process of converting most of my books to e format the last
six months or so. Most full-length books convert to less than a megabyte of
text so you can carry a few hundred books around on a small SD card that
plugs into a Palm or PocketPC. It's a lot of work running them through the
scanner and OCR, but it's really nice to be able to travel light and have
quick access to your library. Also, it is *much nicer* to read in bed when
it's self-illuminated, can be held and paged in one hand, and you have
electronic dictionary, text searching, and annotation built in.

I'm currently using a Palm Tungsten-T as my PDA and e-book reader (320 by
320 resolution) and find it to be completely adequate. All my ebooks are in
either plain text, HTML, or Rich Text Format unless there's no other choice.
Items in the "no other choice" category are mostly in PDF format which does
have an advantage with respect to inline graphics.

For reader software I use mainly WordSmith, ISilo, and Adobe Reader for
    Palm.

So now I'm considering getting a handheld eBook Device. My thoughts are I
can download the books at home....put them on my Hard Drive or burn them to
a CD....the "fill up" the handheld with different titles for each trip. I
don't imagine I'd read more than 9 or 10 books every two or three weeks
    ......do you think?

The problem is there are so many of them....and so many formats...

    I was considering RocketBooks.......

Has anyone any experience in this area .............any advice?
