I am not debating what you said and in one sense I am definitely not
responding directly to you -- but you did start me thinking.
I live North of Chicago alongside the Edens highway. The Edens is
normally so choked with traffic that I much preferred to take the El to
downtown Chicago to go to work.
One morning I started counting up. The Edens choked down to maybe 25
MPH and carrying barely over one passenger per auto still was moving more
traffic than our El was.
For those of you not familiar with Chicago, the El is an elevated
commuter train.
