    It seems that these people (link below),
    in Pisa, built a nano-machine, a sort of
    'perpetuum mobile' using the fractional
    quantum Hall effect (fractional charges);
    the paper was published in Physical
    Review Letters (end of Jan. 03)
    but perhaps is the same paper here:
