Don't mean to be rude, but how much stuff actually goes on in Oz? You'd
have to go planetary to fill up a paper or broadcast... ;)

That being said, we are seeing coverage about the wildfires and heat
spell down that way, all the bats dying of heatstroke, etc. I think
that most Americans tune out the rest of the world generally because so
much stuff that is more important TO THEM happens here.

I mean, in ancient Rome, how many everyday Romans actually gave much of
a crap about local politics on the Dalmatian frontier or in some
backwater like Palestine? The rest of the world came to Rome, and the
most exciting things day in and day out were chariot races, wrestling,
gladiator matches, and the rumor mill about which Senator was sleeping
with which other Senators wives, daughters, sons (or their own).
