It might seem like quibbling but it is actually important. They
set up a "republic" not a "democracy". A "constitutional
democracy" is a less compact and somewhat misleading way to
describe such a "republic". By the constitutional limitations
all parts of our government today are grossly out of the bounds
set for them. Our rights and freedom suffer the consequences.
