Even if you got 1000 responses, it would not be significant
because it's a self-selected sample. I'd like to think most
Extropians know at least enough math to realize that any
such poll of a mailing list cannot possibly generate useful
information for any purpose, and I respectfully suggest
that others refrain from doing so in the future.
To further show the futility of such a poll, I will point
out that I, personally, will not answer your question either
way, because it is likely to be detrimental to my own
interests to do so. Announcing that I have no gun invites
thieves; announcing that I do invites cops (presuming for
the moment that there's a difference).
