According to,
normal reference ranges are
20-200 ng/ml in males
13-125 ng/ml in females
13-145 ng/ml in children

1 ng/ml of ferritin is equivalent to 8 mg stored iron. Therefore ferritin
levels times 8 indicates the total amount of iron stored in mg.
