I don't think they sound that bad, at least not the best of them, but I
agree that they're not as good as one would expect. I've used ReadtoMe,
which is avilable free from http://www.pixi.com/~reader1/ If you want
something which is (a) free and (b) pretty damn good given (a), I'd advise
you to head in that direction.
I wonder if 'professional' programs for the blind are any better: does
anyone here have any experience of those?
