Note that the article states that some of the anthrax is still alive and deadly, and that the island is growing toward the mainland. *And* it has been apparently completely abandoned, with no guards or security measures, allowing locals to scavenge materials from the decrepit labs and testing grounds..

Perhaps the world will not end in fire, or in ice, but in bacteria.
