As we discussed in February, despite Hogan's hard sci-fi credentials, he can't be considered very reliable on technical matters. Among other things, he is a Velikovskian, as seen at his home page at http://www.global.org/jphogan/index.html (follow link to Bulletin Board, and then Catastrophism).
Billy Brown gave Velikovskianism a thorough debunking in his posting of Feb 16.
