Not quite. Many people tend to go along with things even if they
don't agree with them. Why stick with something they don't agree with? It
is evocative of the age old saying: "You don't like it? Well live with it."
A saying which many governments silently adopt, and what I wanted to convey
with this line of my poem.

Good point. From now on the line will read: "No more shall we
accept authority and let ourselves be led." Not only does it alleviate any
possible misunderstanding, but it also creates an internal rhyme.
