Searlesiously, now, folks, is there a Zombie in your computer's Chinese
Room??
Emotions are signals which have evolved prior to the development of
language. Biology works by modifying and adding capabilities, so we have
both language and emotion. If the computer mentioned above had a
convincingly detailed avatar, I would experience it as an entity
expressing emotion if I were visiting it via a suitable VR. I don't know
if you have or experience qualia, but my experience is that you say
so....
