I am both an atheist & a freethinker. Though it is rare even believers can
be considered a freethinker depending if they do not follow an authority
figure, book, etc. For example, even though Deists are not atheists many of
them can be considered a freethinker. Christians by definition are not
freethinkers and it is impossible for a Christian to be a free thinker.

I'd prefer: `a principled repudiation of belief in a supernatural Supreme
Being'.

own merit and wit" rather than through acceptance of an authority, like the
Bible.

Make up your mind, Are you a `free thinker' or an atheist?
