    ### Be there. Have fun while crushing enemies and merrily reproducing.

    Don't we know that already?

I am not so pessimistic about the prospects for a scientific understanding
of human motivation. Some of the journeys of self-discovery are more like
sculpting in stone, uncovering and creating at the same time. Recognition of
what you want takes time not because the wishes are hidden by a sinister
self-deception, but rather because they develop as myelination of the
frontal cortex and social experience allow. Neuroscience and sociology
already made a good start with evolutionary psychology, and there is more to
    come.
