I played around with a reading program a few years ago, I don't remember the
name. It would take a text document and flash one word at a time in large
type at the center of the screen, longer words got slightly longer screen
time. The idea being that you never have to move your eyes, and it worked,
the very first time I used it I was reading much faster than I had in my
entire life but I soon stopped using it because somehow reading was no
longer fun. I really did feel like I was drinking from a fire hose.
