    That seems to me to be enormously difficult, the spent fuel rods contain a
    hodgepodge of different elements and isotopes and they would all have to
    sorted out with expensive machinery, otherwise exposing them to a neutron
    flux would just make things worse, and produce a lot of Plutonium too.
