Good point, and if we were all in the same boat, we'd all have the same
captain (which we don't). So, obviously, we're not all in the same boat, and
those who are in a single boat have probably noticed that being in one boat
doesn't promote much egalitarianism. Some are officers and some are passengers
and very few actually own the boat.

Useless hypotheses, etc.:
consciousness, phlogiston, philosophy, vitalism, mind, free will, qualia,
analog computing, cultural relativism, GAC, Cyc, Eliza, cryonics, individual
uniqueness, ego, human values, scientific relinquishment, malevolent AI,
non-sensory experience, SETI

We move into a better future in proportion as science displaces superstition.
