Reminds me of that truly prescient Eclipse trilogy by John Shirley - so much stuff like that. Does anyone know if Shirley ever finished the rewrite he was supposed to be doing? The biometric surveillance stuff out of Europe - anti-terrorist - has been moving in that kind of direction for a long time. Those face recognition programs have been in use since the early '90's in some areas of Europe.
