<< I think the original comment was about information theory, which disregards
the "about" thing, and hands over the problem of interpretation to other
scientists (psychologists? computer scientists?). From the information
theoretic point of view, information is very fundamental, and it's basic
building block, the *bit* is pervasive. It's a very simple minded view
though, so you shouldn't be suprised that it claims fundamentality.

Wouldn't the bit be something which can be used to symbolize or carry
information, but not be information itself? Or am I completely
misunderstanding the issue at hand?
