I've been archiving the medical references and looked over some today.

I have one to add.

Buffalo berry is a shrub we grow for field shelterbelts to trap snow,
stop wind, prevent soil erosion. we have now about 30 miles of these.

In a time when there is no rain and thus no crop maybe it gladdens the
step when an article like the attachement comes along. Apparently
several of the constituents of buffaloberry may deter or treat aids.

Two new hydrolyzable tannins, shephagenins A and B, were isolated along
with hippophaenin A and strictinin from the leaf extract of Shepherdia
argentea, which showed a remarkable inhibitory activity against human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 reverse transcriptase. Their structures,
having a gluconic acid core, have been elucidated on the basis of
spectroscopic and chemical methods. The inhibitory effect of the leaf
extract on HIV-1 reverse transcriptase was found to be due to tannins, and
their activities were stronger than that of (-)-epigallocatechin gallate as
a positive control.
