While it's true that not all humans are equally innovative, we still
have a huge advantage over the greeks. In the greek culture, it about
a hundred people working full tijme to support one philosopher Those
hundred people (farm families, slaves and other household servants, etc.)
never got a change to be inventors. In victorian times, the ratio was
lower. Today, the ratio is much lower. I'd guess that today, in advanced
societies at least, a much higher percentage of potential inventors become
actual inventors.
