Not to mention that if a person who'd been the subject of "threats" were
coincidentally murdered, the people who had made statements which could be
perceived as threats could become suspects.

"Plonking" is certainly better than "killing," but personally, I think it's
much better to maintain some minimum level of politeness, even towards
people who seem to be totally wrong.
