I forgot to mention the sun here at latitude 30 degrees N. From just 6
120watt solar panels I get enough juice to power a water pump, a fridge,
lights, and a small a/c. The pump's a 24VDC piston pump (it can handle the
silt from the pond with no problem), run off a battery bank; the house
appliances are 115VAC run off an inverter. Photovoltaics may not be
efficient up north, but they're great at lower lattitudes.
