Could you be a bit more specific about what you're referring to here? I've
found theories such as Julian Jaynes's to be fascinating, but my take on
them is that they're more conjecture than proven fact.
I apologize if I'm not up to speed on the terminology. No need to go into
detail on further explanation--a reference would be great.
