The Motley Fool Inc., whose investing Web site made a splash for its
ability to point a finger and laugh at bull and bear markets, yesterday
found the joke of the sagging tech stock market turned on itself.
The privately held company announced it will lay off 115 employees -
almost a third of its work force. In the next few weeks, Motley Fool will
also abandon Soapbox.com LLC, a site where amateur market players sold
their research.
