The study is fun, but not trivial to interpret (I read it in Nature,
it is just a single page). I'm not really sure if the finger ratios
provide a good estimate of androgen levels, and the explanations of
male homosexuality based on higher prenatal androgen levels may be a
bit shaky. Another hypothesis is that higher prenatal stress hormone
levels influence sexual preferences, and this in turn can be affected
by maternal genetic factors. There is room for some quite subtle
interplay here. Of course, now everybody is going to try to measure
finger lengths instead of think about tricky stuff like that.
