We don't need to *imagine* a system. The *closest* stars to us, other than
the sun, *are* a ternary system: Alpha Centauri A and B, and Proxima, all
locked neatly together. (The shadows might not be that exciting, Proxima is
a fair way off from the others and pretty dim.)
