    zero-sum game." (N.B.: This can involve combining the participants
    into a team playing against "the rules of the universe" or some such.)

    The last time I encountered game theory, I think that was considered a
    true statement. And, of course, there are many positive and negative
    sum games that are not theoretically tractible. The prisoner's dilemma
    is probably the classic simple one. And it can be framed as either a
    positive or a negative sum game (though not all can).
