I agree with you. Mike McGee in his book Technaissance shows that a
period of intense growth is coming at us in a hurry. If we take "us" to mean
the civilized world then I don't think many people would argue with that
prediction. Mr. McGee to his credit does a good job of laying out how this coming
about. I think Mr. McGee misses the very point that THE BELL CURVE by
Herrnstein & Murray do make. Beginning about 1900 AD this economy has became
increasingly high tech requiring employers to place a premium on hiring intelligent
people. By the 1950s this requirement had extended in to our top Universities
-- after all they succeed by recruiting and graduating the people that
employers require.
This list represents a proportion of the people that fuel any
advancement made by our civilization. This being true we are looking at these
questions seriously as Lee says.
